Sunday, August 19, 8:30 am – 11 am, Westport Island Shore 10K Run & Fun Walk, Town Hall, 1217 Main Road. Registration is open for the 14th Annual Westport Island Shore 10K Road Race (Start @ 9 am) & 5K Fun Walk (Start @ 8:30 am). Maine’s Best Little 10K Road Race is a USATF-sanctioned race with water stations, distance markers, post-race refreshments and award medals. The race benefits the Westport Volunteer Fire Department. Friday, August 31, Help Your Town Plan for the Future — from your home. The Comprehensive Plan Committee wants to hear from you! Your opinions will help guide recommendations for Westport Island’s future. Input from all on this anonymous survey is essential to ensure the Plan reflects the vision and desires of our community. You may complete the survey on-line for your convenience at: http://wvfd.me/cps. Each person in your household who is age 18 or over is encouraged to complete one of these survey questionnaires (only one survey per person). Please submit your completed survey by August 31, 2018. Sunday, September 16, 11 am 3 pm, “An Island Home: Six Historic Houses of Westport Island Maine; registration and lunch at the Town Hall, 1217 Main Road. The History Committee in collaboration with homeowners, the Community Association, the Town Hall Committee and other island partners will be sponsoring this historic homes tour.The houses on this year’s tour are all associated with families of the first Westport Island settlers. The homes are representative of 18th to 19th century Georgian, Federal and Greek Revival styles. Tickets will be $20/person — cash or check only — at the Old Town Hall. A light lunch will be Included in the admission fee; it will be available at the Town Hall throughout the event. The Community Church will also be open for viewing.
